Our Goals: The main focus of the Collective is to perpetuate originality among the TCG community. Our members are those who have truly grown tired of playing and seeing the same deck types habitually and wish to do something about it. The best way we know how to influence change is to lead by example. TCG players are very influential. And the pervading opinion among the global TCG community is that only a certain deck can take you to the Worlds or Shonen Jump Championships. While for the moment this may be true, it is only true because truly original deck ideas are only explored by a handful of people, while a deck that wins a major Championship gets dissected and refined by millions of players the world over. We intend to change that. It will not only be a Slayer’s mission to refine his fresh, unheard of ideas in tournament situations and encourage other players to do so, but will also be his pleasure. The more people we can influence to try something new, the more refreshing a day at a competitive event will be. The more challenging it will become.
Behavior: While you’ll see many references expressing our disdain for all things CC, let’s make one thing abundantly clear from the start. CookieSlayer is meant facetiously. A cool turning of phrase meant to make us stand out as unique and identifiable among the vast sea of teams out there who stick to only a few combos. It is not an excuse to act aggressively or immature towards players who don’t see things our way. We intend to win these people over through example and fine conduct. One of the significant things wrong with the CC community is that they treat original thinkers with little or no respect. It serves no purpose to act this way in kind. We will always treat others with maturity and dignity, and in a way that we would want to be treated, regardless of the abrasiveness we will no doubt encounter.
If 90% of the duels you engage in result in abusive arguments and contests of "¿Quien es mas macho?" then this is definitely not the team for you.
Team Affiliations: As an international team with its roots in online communities, we don’t expect you to disassociate yourself with whatever local or online teams you’re already a part of. The Collective has already formed at least one alliance with an online community, Lair of Dark Monarchs, because its goals are similar and it has an outstanding track record of respect and maturity. Many Monarchs have already expressed interest in becoming Slayers as well.
The big difference with our team is that it differs in goals then most team affiliations. Local and online team generally offer support in the way of transportation to events, group card pools and byes for a team mate when pitted against each other. This is not necessarily our focus, and we respect the need to have these types of resources available. What we will be offering is what your team cannot. Strategy discussions, deck suggestions, and camaraderie without the fear or reprisal from those who do not understand what you’re trying to do.
While we won’t necessarily form an alliance with all teams, already being in a team will not impede your application process or induction into the CookieSlayer Collective. If anything, your affiliation with us can only broaden your team’s horizons and ours.
